M.U.R.A.L. began as Lupe Fiasco and I heeded our father’s request to make our communities better than we found them. We learned how diverse yet segregated Chicago communities were by driving across the city each week in our father’s station wagon. We saw firsthand how he built Karate Schools in the poorest areas of Chicago and transformed youth by providing mentorship and innovative programming.
Our initiatives highlight our investment to health and wellness, education, and global citizenship and are built on the spirit of partnership. We advocate for resource sharing and believe in the power of coming together with organizations that have similar missions to improve Chicago communities.
We are honored to have served over 18,000 Chicago youth and their families since inception and are thankful for the support of our partners and funders who continue to help us create positive and impactful Murals of service in communities that need them the most. We look forward to continuously blazing trails and supporting trends that empower Chicago youth.
